David Snider

David Snider serves as Senior Partner of Community Outreach with The Redemption Project, where he brings lived experience, professional training, and empathetic leadership to work centered on recovery, reentry, accountability, and restoration.

 

Addiction and incarceration were significant parts of David’s life for many years and ultimately led to his arrest and federal sentencing in 2009. He served 14½ years in the federal prison system—an experience that became the foundation for

accountability, personal growth, and lasting transformation.

During his incarceration, David facilitated the inmate volunteer Hospice Program at FMC Rochester, caring for men whose terminal illnesses were often connected to long-term substance use. Walking alongside these men at the end of their lives profoundly shaped his understanding of dignity,

compassion, and the human cost of addiction, and solidified his commitment to helping others break

cycles of addiction and incarceration.

 

David is a trained Peer Recovery Specialist and is educated in Restorative Justice, grounding his work in healing-centered, relationship-based recovery. He is also a strong and effective public speaker and educator, spending many years engaging youth, students, and community audiences on topics of reentry, recovery, and the long-term impact of life choices. Through his involvement with WayMakers to Recovery, David contributes insight shaped by lived experience, education, and a deep belief in the possibility of recovery, accountability, and lasting change.
